JR-Giant is situated 3 km south of the centre of Ivalo, on the right of the highway. When heading Ivalo, it's at the foot of Saarineitamovaara, 250 m off the main road. It's signposted on barkless pine snags on the roadside. We have a private road, so there's no traffic passing trough. There are three houses on both sides of the road, JR-Giant being the topmost on the left and the only biggish group of barkless pine snag houses. Local families inhabit the other five houses.

JR-Giant is located 7 km from the airport, and ca. 30 km from the Saariselkä slopes. A lane for light traffic runs along the highway between the road and the river Ivalo, to the centre of Ivalo and almost up to the airport. By JR-Giant it runs on the river shore.

There are excellent connections from JR-Giant to the snowmobile routes. By terrain you can drive to the Ivalo-Saariselkä route or to the river Ivalo. Or by the subway to the river and from there to all other routes, e.g. to Ivalo, Inari, Saariselkä, Sodankylä, Sevettijärvi, Hammastunturi, Kultala at Lake Inari, Nellimi, Surnu, River Utsjoki and Norway.

We organise guided, fully inclusive snowmobile safaris with our own equipment. The length of a trip can be one day or more.

There are magnificent opportunities for cross-country skiing. A couple of kilometres north from the centre of Ivalo there is an excellent illuminated track. There are also long, marked tracks from the hotels at the centre of the village.

There are very good shops in Ivalo, open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. There are also banks, a post office, the police, National Board of Forestry, an off-licence, the customs, a hospital and so on.

You'll find additional services at JR-Giant, such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, daily cleaning, change of bed linen (we use the hiring services of the Inari laundry), smoke sauna, and so on.

In summer we have a boat on Lake Inari and the river Ivalo for trips and transportation. Lake Inari is a great place for various kinds of activities both in summer and in winter - please see our schedule of activities or let us know your wishes.

You can fish on the river Inari: grayling, trout... An excellent river for canoeing!
